Nuovo sistema robotizzato di incrocio pallet per risparmiare >40% di spazio nelle spedizioni - New robotic crossing pallet system to save >40% space in shipment

La filiale logistica di un noto marchio di alta moda e articoli di lusso con sede in Svizzera si è rivolta a Siscodata perchè aveva la necessità di creare pile di pallet di legno incrociate (mediante incrocio “sopra/sotto”) per ridurre, durante il trasporto, lo spazio occupato di più del 40%.

Siscodata ha progettato una soluzione innovativa con l'ausilio di un robot Comau, una pinza e altri componenti studiati ad hoc per automatizzare questa operazione che, in precedenza, veniva svolta a mano da diversi operatori e che risultava molto faticosa considerando il peso di 15 Kg a pallet e la quantità di pallet gestiti.

Il tipo di pallet gestito, in questo caso, è EURO 1200 L x 800 W x 150 H mm con un'altezza massima delle pile (inclusa la pedana di legno) di 2000 mm max. circa.

La macchina rileva i pallet in passaggio su una rulliera folle in uscita e, tramite un sistema a sensori, il sistema riconosce se si tratta di un pallet di materiale, che allora viene mandato avanti, o se si tratta di un “pallet di pallet”, che invece viene lavorato e incrociato “sopra/sotto”.

Il robot inizia il suo ciclo controllando l'altezza del pallet tramite un “tastatore” laser in triangolazione per evitare impatti tra la pinza e un eventuale ultimo pallet aggiunto a mano.

Nella parte in uscita ci sono 2 rulliere in cascata: la prima serve da base per l'erezione della pila incrociata, mentre la seconda serve da buffer in uscita.

Il cliente è riuscito a portare all'interno del sito produttivo questo processo che in precedenza era esterno in subappalto e inoltre a ridurre il lavoro faticante ai suoi operatori.

The logistics branch of a well-known high fashion and luxury goods brand having office in Switzerland turned to Siscodata for its need to create piles of crossed wooden pallets (by crossing "up/down") in order to reduce, during the transport, the occupied space of more than 40%.

Siscodata has realized an innovative solution integrating a Comau robot, a gripper and other components designed ad hoc to automate this operation which, previously, was carried out by hand by different operators and which was very tiring considering the weight of 15 Kg to pallets and the quantity of pallets handled.

The type of pallet managed, in this case, is EURO 1200 L x 800 W x 150 H mm with a maximum height of the stacks (including the wooden platform) of about 2000 mm max.

The machine detects the pallets passing on a free roller conveyor in exit and, through a sensor system, the system recognizes if it is a pallet of material, that is sent forward, or if it is a "pallet of pallets", which is instead processed and crossed "up/down".

The robot begins its cycle by checking the height of the pallet through a laser triangulation sensor to avoid impacts between the gripper and a possible last pallet added by hand.
In the output part there are 2 roller conveyors in cascade: the first serves as a basis for the cross stack erection, while the second serves as an output buffer.
Thanks to this solution, the customer has been abled to bring this process inside the production site, while previously was subcontracted, and also to reduce the laborious work to its operators.

FORMATURA E RIEMPIMENTO DI ESPOSITORI BOX PALLET E VASSOI / DISPLAY - BOX PALLET AND TRAY DISPLAY FORMING AND FILLING PLANT _ Part 2

The plant is formed by a system performing the erecting and filling of box pallet displays and trays for the large-scale detail distribution. We can divide the plant into 3 areas:

• box pallet display forming area and display / tray erecting area;
• pick & place and filling area;
• stacking area.

These last two areas can be integrated into one only.

Box pallet displays forming area:

The box pallet display forming system erects the pallet-like carton display automatically by closing the bottom part with hot melt and folding the central part. Subsequently, the display is glued on the wooden pallet or, as an alternative, is kept steady by inserting a cardboard piece inside. To automatise and accelerate these operations, it could be necessary to partially review the packaging. This system, together with the tray erecting area, forms the initial part of the whole plant automatic line.

The box pallet displays can have various dimensions and can be of 2 types (see Pict. 1 and Pict. 2):

• TYPE 1: “classic” box pallet with bottom part closure by hot melt;
• TYPE 2: box pallet with cardboard piece insertion after forming.

The box pallet forming system is interfaced with the display pick & place and filling part.

There will be one silos with minimum capacity of 50 cartons, with easy adjustment so to handle both types and one silos for the mini-pallets (600 x 400 mm, equivalent to 1/4 of a Europallet). This silos can contain quite a few piles of 20 pcs. each.

The box pallet display forming system can form, in average, 20 box pallets/hour. 

Trays / displays forming area:

The tray / display forming area erects the carton tray automatically. Trays / displays can be of different types and sizes.

During tray erection, the lateral flaps are left open so to allow the product insertion during pick & place phase. After filling, in a following glueing station, the lateral flaps will be closed. There is a silos containing a few hundreds flat cartons with easy adjustment. The system forms in average 120-150 trays/hour.

The box pallet and tray displays types can be made with:

• single-wave or double-wave carton;
• printed single-wave or double-wave carton.

Pick & place area:

The pick & place area automatically places the products into the box pallets or trays displays. The pick & place robotic system, located after the box pallet and trays displays forming area, is able to handle different types of products, such as:

• biscuits trays;
• flowpacked packs;
• glass jars in multipacks, matrix 2x1 / 3x1 / 2x2 / 3x2;
• and so on.

The pick & place area is able to fill in:

• box pallet from 1/4 pallet (600x400mm);
• trays / displays from 1/4 pallet (600x400mm).

Box pallets and trays arrive to the system already formed and ready to be filled in. The automatic handling of box pallets and display trays can be adjusted easily according to the size. An operator prepares the products manually to be inserted into the box pallet / tray and loads them into the pick & place feeding unit. Subsequently, the products are picked up and placed by two anthropomorphous robots into the box pallet / tray. Depending on the type of product that has to be handled, there will be a buffer station for the automatic insertion of interlayer cardboards, or reinforcement cartons, or bee-nest product separators. Empty box pallet / trays coming from the forming area are automatically placed inside the filling area and (once pick & place and flaps closure by hot melt operations are carried out) accumulated to be subsequently stacked by the two robotic arms.

Stacking area:

The box pallet (see Pict. 4A) is already equipped with a mini-pallet or with a carton piece during the erection phase. Therefore, it is not “worked on” in the stacking area.

The trays / displays, once filled-in with the requested product, are stacked at output in the pick & place area. Then the system closes the trays upper part by glueing the lateral flaps and are placed on the wooden mini-pallet coming from the forming area (see Pict. 4B). The various operations are set on a central electrical rack for handling and control.

The plant includes 6-axis, brushless COMAU robots that perform the operations of box pallets / trays forming, pick & place and trays / displays stacking on mini-pallet.

COMAU anthropomorphous robots can reach high speed and acceleration, together with high precision and repeatability of movements. The robot, which also has an IP67 protection on the wrist, is equipped with a new C5G process computer and an ergonomical terminal with sealed membrane keyboard, colour LCD and TFT. The C5G also has an input for a USB key through which it is possible to load new pallet patterns by e-mail or take out the log, and also has the possibility to interface with the most common fieldbus as well as the possibility to exchange data by the resident Ethernet interface with the PC network already present in the plant. This way, for e.g., it is possible to transmit the log file data of the production for the packing list, or for the warehouse load.

FORMATURA E RIEMPIMENTO DI ESPOSITORI BOX PALLET E VASSOI / DISPLAY - BOX PALLET AND TRAY DISPLAY FORMING AND FILLING PLANT _ Part 1

L'impianto si compone di un sistema di formatura e riempimento di espositori box pallet e vassoi / display per la GDO. Nello specifico, possiamo suddividere le attività svolte dall'impianto in 3 macro aree:

• area di formazione espositore box pallet e area di formazione espositore vassoio / display;
• isola di pick & place – riempimento;
• area di impilamento.

Queste due ultime 2 funzioni possono essere integrate in un'unica area.

 

Area di formazione espositore box pallet:

Il sistema di formazione di espositori box pallet forma l'espositore tipo pallet in cartone in modo automatico chiudendo la parte inferiore con hot melt, rompendone e ripiegandone la parte centrale, e successivamente incollando l'espositore su pallet di legno o in alternativa inserendo una forma di cartone all'interno dell'espositore. Per rendere automatiche ed accelerare queste funzioni potrebbe essere necessario riesaminare parzialmente gli imballaggi. Tale sistema costituisce, unitamente al sistema di formazione vassoi, la parte iniziale dell'intera linea automatica dell'impianto.

Gli espositori box pallet possono avere diverse dimensioni e possono essere di 2 tipologie (v. Fig. 1 e Fig. 2).

• TIPO 1: box pallet “classico” per il quale è prevista la chiusura inferiore con hot melt;
• TIPO 2: box pallet per il quale dopo la srombatura si richiede l'introduzione della sagoma in cartone nella parte inferiore del box pallet.

Il sistema di formazione box pallet si interfaccia con l'impianto di riempimento pick & place degli espositori.

È stato previsto un silos di min. 50 cartoni, con regolazione facilitata, per la gestione di imballi di entrambe le tipologie ed un sistema silos per i minipallet (600x400 mm – equivalenti ad 1/4 di Euro Pallet) che può contenere diverse pile da una ventina l'una di minipallet. Il sistema di formazione espositori box pallet forma, in media, 20 box pallet/ora.

Area di formazione espositore vassoio/display

Il sistema di formazione di vassoio / display forma il vassoio (v. Fig. 3) in cartone in modo automatico. I vassoi/display possono essere di diverse tipologie e dimensioni.

Durante la formazione del vassoio, i lembi laterali vengono lasciati aperti al fine di consentire l'inserimento dei prodotti nella fase di pick & place. Attraverso una successiva stazione di incollaggio, dopo il riempimento, avverrà la chiusura dei lembi laterali. L'area include un silos di qualche centinaia di cartoni piani fustellati, con regolazione facilitata. Il sistema di formazione vassoi/display forma una media di 120/150 vassoi/ora.

Gli espositori tipo box pallet e vassoi / display possono essere di:

• cartone ondulato a onda singola o doppia onda;
• cartone ondulato stampato ad onda singola o doppia onda.

Isola di pick & place - riempimento

L'isola di pick & place dispone in modo automatico i prodotti negli espositori tipo box pallet e tipo vassoio / display. Il sistema robotico che gestisce il pick & place è in grado di manipolare prodotti molto diversi tra loro, come ad esempio:

• astrucci di biscotti;
• imballaggi di flowpack;
• vasetti di vetro in confezione multipack 2x1 / 3x1 / 2x2 / 3x2;
• etc.

e si trova dopo l'area di formazione degli espositori (tipo box pallet e tipo vassoio). L'isola di pick & place è in grado di riempire:

• box pallet da 1/4 (600x400mm) di pallet;
• vassoi espositori da 1/4 (600x400mm) di pallet.

Box pallet e vassoi arrivano alla macchina già formati pronti per essere riempiti. La manipolazione automatica dei box pallet e dei vassoi espositori si regola facilmente in base al formato. Un operatore prepara manualmente i prodotti che devono riempire il box pallet / vassoio e li carica nel sistema di alimentazione del pick & place. Successivamente, i prodotti vengono prelevati e posizionati dai robot gemelli antropomorfi, in automatico, all'interno del box pallet / vassoio. In base al prodotto oggetto del pick & place è stata prevista una stazione buffer per l'inserimento, sempre automatico, di cartoni interstrato e cartoni di rinforzo - separatori alveolari. Box pallet / vassoi vuoti provenienti dall'area di formatura vengono automaticamente posizionati nell'area di riempimento e, sempre in automatico (una volta completato il pick & place e la chiusura con hot melt delle faldine), vengono accumulati per essere successivamente impilati dai due bracci robot che lavorano in modo coordinato.

Area di impilamento

Il box pallet (v. Fig. 4A) viene già corredato da minipallet o da una forma di cartone nel momento della sua formazione. Di conseguenza non viene “lavorato” nell'area di impilamento.

I vassoi / display, una volta che sono stati riempiti con il prodotto richiesto, vengono accumulati in uscita nell'area di pick & place e, dopo che l'impianto, in modo automatico, ha chiuso la parte superiore del vassoio (incollando i lembi lateriali), vengono impilati e deposti sul minipallet di legno richiamato dall'area di formazione (v. Fig. 4B).

Le diverse funzionalità vengono impostate da un quadro elettrico centrale di comando.

L'impianto si compone di Robot COMAU a 6 assi brushless che realizzano le attività di formazione degli espositori, l'attività di pick & place e l'impilamento di vassoy / display su minipallet. I Robot antropomorfi COMAU sono capaci di alte velocità e accelerazioni, insieme ad alta precisione e ripetibilità di movimenti. Il robot, dotato di protezione IP67 al polso, è attrezzato con il computer di processo C5G ed un terminale ergonomico per l'operatore con touchscreen e display LCD a colori TFT. Il C5G dispone inoltre di uscita per chiavetta USB tramite la quale è possibile caricare nuovi programmi via e-mail o scaricare log di produzione. Ha anche la possibilità di interfacciarsi con i più comuni fieldbus e di scambiare i dati tramite porta Ethernet residente con PC network già presenti nell'impianto. In questo modo, ad esempio, è possibile trasmettere il file log data di produzione per la packing list o il carico di magazzino.

Siscodata has realized for a leader Turkish manufacturer of sunflower seed oil with a double robotic palletizer with a total productivity from 5 lines up to  a total of 50 boxes per minute.
The line can work with Euro pallet (800 x1200) or English pallet 1000 x1200  ans the height of the pallet can be over 2400 mm .The system will be connected at the exit with an existing stretch wrapping with rotating arm and it is provided with a new high resolution CCD camera to read on fly the ID bar code  (also under the shruk fim and reprint the pallet label applying automatically .

Low bottle production line from 2000 up to 6000 bph can now be produced in a very short space 5 meter x 3 by the new SIS300 packer module

The bags are running in accumulation after the cleaning from dust  and a dedicated double diverter creates the matrix (typically 3x4,2x 6 etc. ) that the robot P&P into the box .The compact module can work with bags or bottle ,drum,jerrycan,etc.
In case of bottle and additional optional device MIA (module for inserting nest) permit to complete the line also with automatic part before the sealer .
The bags in box can be inserted flat laying down or vertical like for a supermarket display.

Siscodata ha partecipato ad AUTOMATICA 2012 a Monaco di Baviera allo show esponendo in collaborazione con COMAU un'area di palletizzazione con il nuovo robot PAL da 260 kg ed un area Packer di scatole FEFCO 0204 Americane con un nuovo tool di presa di buste .Allo show a tutt'oggi il piu importante in Europa e' stata così mostrata la grande flessibilita' del sistema di trasporti e packaging basato  sull'insieme COMAU SISCODATA nella realizzazioni di aree funzionali in spazi ridotti .Alla famiglia di nuovi robot Comau di cui Siscodata è integratore preferenziale e' stata aggiunto un nuovo robot da 6 assi e 60 kg presentato per l'occasione .
